He was born on October 22, 1947 in Baku.

He started learning the secrets of football at a young age at Neftchi. In 1967-1970 he played for our team and appeared in 24 games. However, due to injury, the player ended his career early.

He continued his activity as a coach from a young age. In 1982 he graduated from the Higher Coaching School in Moscow. In 1983-1985 and 1987 he worked as a coach at Neftchi, and in 1987-1988, 1989 and 2004-2006 as a head coach.

Under his leadership, our team won the Azerbaijani championship in 2005 and the "Unity Cup" in 2006.

Agasalim was awarded the honorary title of "Honored Coach of Azerbaijan" in 1988, the Order of Glory in 2008, and a personal scholarship of the President in December 2018.
