Vagif Sadigov played 126 games and scored 3 goals for Neftchi in 1980-1987 and 1989.

He finished his football career in 1993 and started coaching. The first place of work was Neftchi. Under his leadership, our team won the national cup in 1995. Neftchi made its debut in the European Cups under his leadership. The flagship, which lost to the Cypriot club APOEL (0: 3) in the away match, drew goalless in the return match in Sumgayit. It was Sadigovlu Neftchi who scored the first point in the European Cups among our clubs.

The former midfielder, who was the head coach of Neftchi in 2009-2010, also led the Azerbaijani national team in 1997-1998, 2002, 2005 and 2009.
