Alexander Gnezdov was born on September 17, 1908.

He went down in history as the first head coach of Neftchi. As a playing coach, he played 13 games for the team and scored 4 goals.

Alexander Gnezdov was also the country's first football commentator. He was one of the founders of football reporting on Azerbaijani radio in 1949. He conducted the first interview himself.

Alexander Gnezdov died in 1981.
