A number of Neftchi players have been selected for their loyalty to the club. Among them, Igor Getman has a special place. However, Getman did not only play for Neftchi during his football career. However, during his performance in Azerbaijan, he devoted himself only to "whites and blacks."
Igor took his first steps in football at Neftchi. At the age of 6, under the leadership of Shamil Amirov, he began to learn the secrets of this sport as a winger. He started his professional football career at the age of 17 at Dinamo GOHM. Until 1991, he played in 63 games for this team. In the winter of the same year, he returned to Neftchi at the invitation of Ruslan Abdullayev. In 1992, he received an offer from the Stavropol club "Dynamo" and for the first time in his career lived the life of a legionnaire. Although he did not play here, in 1993 he was joined by Makhachkala's Anzhi Makhachkala. He defended the honor of this team for 5 years. He appeared in 168 games and scored 14 goals. He returned to Neftchi in 1998 and wore the club's uniform until the end of his football career.
Igor Getman, who finished his career at the age of 36, is the player who has played the most games for Neftchi in the history of Azerbaijani championships. He appeared in a total of 247 matches - 208 times in the national championship, 28 times in the national cup, and 11 times in international games in black and white and scored 7 goals. In 1992, 2004, 2005 he won the Azerbaijani championship with "Neftchi", and in 1999, 2004 he won the Azerbaijan Cup. In 2006, he won the Commonwealth Cup among CIS champions. He made his national team debut against Romania in 1995 and played in 24 official matches until 2001.
The player started coaching as soon as he finished his career and was appointed assistant head coach of the main team at Neftchi. He held this position until 2009. He then worked as a head coach of the reserve team, and in 2011 as a selection coach. In 2012, he received an invitation from the club "Simurg" in Zagatala, where he also served as head coach of the main team. Even after the resignation of head coach Sergei Yura, he temporarily headed the team. Until 2015, he worked as an assistant coach at Simurg. He returned to Neftchi in 2016 and continued his work as an assistant coach until November 2020. He has been working in the selection department of the club since February 2021. Yes, this loyalty continues. Maybe a lot will change, many will come and go, but the mutual loyalty of Igor and "Neftchi" will never end.
