Neftchi defender Voislav Stankovic gave an interview to the club's official website. Expressing his opinion on his birthday and the fact that his children sang the national anthem of Azerbaijan, the Serbian footballer said he loved Neftchi fans.

- Voislav, happy birthday! This is your 7th birthday in Azerbaijan. How will you celebrate this day?

- Yes, indeed, this is my 7th birthday in Azerbaijan. We used to celebrate my birthday with my family and relatives in a restaurant, but due to the pandemic, this time I will spend it at home, around my family. I am already 34 years old. I'm getting old slowly (laughs). But the main thing is that I feel great, I am in good shape. Therefore, I hope to play football for many years to come.

- It is a matter of pride that their children sing the national anthem of Azerbaijan. Who taught them that?

- They learned to sing the anthem at home - last season when they watched my game in "Neftchi" on TV. They learned every time they looked. My wife and I told our children that this is the anthem of Azerbaijan, and as the anthem of Serbia, it is necessary to know and respect this country. After all, I work here and this country is our home. They are also taught to sing the anthem in kindergarten. It seems that they want us to sing the anthem and they start singing.

- Let's go to football. Although we started the season with a loss of points, after the victory over "Keshla" we are in 3rd place, gaining 3 points less than the leaders.

- We could not start the season as we wanted. We lost points in the games with Gabala and Karabakh. We have a new team, our players. I hope we will put everything in order and play better. We won the last match and I think the team's self-confidence will increase from game to game. In addition, the new players will be able to fully adapt and better understand the wishes of the head coach. Each next match will be even more important.

- Speaking of the match with "Keshla", the 150th game in the Premier League resulted in a 3-0 victory over the former team.

- To be honest, I did not know this fact. It's nice to know that. I have been playing in Azerbaijan for many years. I love this country and I am satisfied with everything here. If it weren't for that, I wouldn't be able to stay here long. I am very happy to protect the honor of Neftchi. I hope I will stay here long. I will play better and help my team win titles.

- A meeting with "Sabah" is coming. What do you think about the game?

- We have a difficult away match with "Sabah". Our games are always tense on that field. The opponent will be determined to win because the season did not start well. Of course, we will come out to win. If you play for Neftchi, only victory can satisfy you. I believe that we will achieve our goal.

- What do you want to say to the fans who sometimes call you to be more active during the games?

- I love Neftchi fans very much. Because they are wholehearted fans. They are very crazy and I am glad that our team has such fans. Sometimes we turn around during the game and I want the fans to support us more and more. My character is such that I don't like to lose a match, a fight, in general, any episode in the game. Therefore, I want the support of the fans. Because it gives more power. We have great fans. I would like them to trust us more. We need some time because our team is new. I hope that at the end of this season we will give them great success and celebrate our championship together again. During the pandemic, we missed them because we were without fans for a year and a half.
