Nazim Suleymanov was born on February 17, 1965 in the city of Sumgayit. Suleymanov, who made his debut in the team of "Synthetic Rubber Plant" at the age of 17, was then involved in the staff of the club "Avtomobilchi" (Mingachevir), which competes in the 9th zone of the second league of the USSR championship. Nazim, distinguished by his confident game, was invited to Neftchi, the first team of Azerbaijan. The player, who wore a black and white uniform from 1983 to 1990, scored 32 goals in 190 games.

The most successful years of Nazim Suleymanov's career are connected with his performance in the Russian championship. The player, who transferred from Spartak Moscow to Vladikavkaz Alania in 1991, won the gold medal of the Russian championship in 1995 and the silver medal in 1992 and 1996. Suleymanov, who scored 60 goals in 142 games for Alania, also went down in history as the best player in the championship. The striker, who scored 13 goals in 67 appearances for Sochi's Jemchuzhina in 1997, ended his career in 2000. He scored 5 goals in 24 games for the national team, where he defended his honor from 1992 to 1999.

Suleymanov, who started his coaching career in 2002, has been appointed the replacement coach of the Russian championship club Jemchuzhina (Sochi). His team ranked ninth in the Southern Zone. The specialist, who returned to his homeland in 2004, was appointed head coach of the newly formed Khazar Lankaran. Nazim Suleymanov, who coached this team for one season, temporarily took the helm of the Azerbaijani national team. The place where he later worked was Baku. The specialist, who runs the replacement team of the capital's representative, headed AZAL in 2009-2011. Under his leadership, the team qualified for the Europa League with a limited budget. Nazim Suleymanov, who coached the Azerbaijani national team in 2012-2013, was the head coach of Neftchi in 2013.
