At that time, it was Heydar Aliyev who prevented Neftchi, which was fighting in the group of the Strong, from being sent to the First Group. At the same time, the national leader, who was regularly interested in the situation of "Neftchi", often met with team members and personally got acquainted with all the problems of "Neftchi", of which he was a fan. The increase in the number of Azerbaijani footballers in Neftchi in the 80s and 90s was made possible by the care of a great politician. The construction of the training base for our team and the repair of the Republican stadium were carried out under his direct supervision.
