A new sports director has been appointed to Neftchi PFC. After that, Zaur Azizov will fulfill this task.

The 37-year-old specialist was the general manager of Gabala in 2008-2021. During this period, the Gabala representative won two silver (2016/17, 2017/18) and three bronze (2013/14, 2014/15, 2015/16) medals in the Premier League. During this period, the team reached the final of the Azerbaijan Cup four times and won its first title in the 2018/19 season. Coinciding with Azizov's general manager's debut in the European Cups, Gabala advanced to the UEFA Europa League group stage, winning four rounds twice in a row (2015/16, 2016/17).

It should be noted that Jeyhun Sultanov previously held the position of Neftchi's sports director from February 2018 to November 2020.
