On July 25, 2023, Chairman of Supervisory Board of “Neftçi” Professional Football Club (PFK) Rovshan Najaf held a joint press conference with CEO Farrukh Mahmudov and head coach Adrian Mutu.

Rovshan Najaf spoke about objectives set for Flagman of Azerbaijani football “Neftçi”, noted the importance of meeting the expectations of fans, and emphasized the importance of their continuous support for club. Chairman of Supervisory Board pointed out that the reforms in “Neftçi” PFK have been successfully continued and a new era has begun for club.

R. Najaf regretfully stated that club has achieved unsuccessful results on football fields recently and said that Supervisory Board of “Neftçi” PFK has seriously analyzed the situation and prepared a reform concept consisting of short, medium and long-term package. Rovshan Najaf emphasized that the main objective is to transform “Neftçi” PFK into a team with structure of a modern European football club.

Chairman of Supervisory Board, who said that the new structure of “Neftçi” PFK has already been formed, also pointed out that special importance will be given to the development of children's football. He said that the necessary work will be done in the direction of the creation of a football academy that meets high standards, and at the same time, the formation of a professional, efficient scouting system.

R. Najaf said that the appointment of Adrian Mutu, who has a lot of experience in European football, as the head coach is in line with the club's goals.

Farrukh Mahmudov said that he was proud to be appointed the chief executive director of “Neftçi” PFK. He said that he will work diligently in the direction of the club's future success, and that meetings with media representatives and fans will be organized regularly in various formats.

Head coach Adrian Mutu said that he feels honored to work in a club with great traditions like “Neftçi” PFK and that he takes his job very seriously. A. Mutu, who informed about the current situation of the club, said that they will work hard to justify the trust of the fans.
