Due to the withdrawal of Lokomotiv (Imishli), Neftchi advanced to the quarterfinals without playing. It was not difficult to beat the opponent "Shafa" at this stage - 6: 1, 1: 0.  

Neftchi's opponent in the semifinal was Bakili, which did not make a strong impression in the championship . After the arrival of the new leadership, our team unexpectedly lost at the Republican Stadium named after Tofig Bahramov, where the "home" games were held - 0: 1. In the return match at Shafa Stadium, our players preferred attacking football to replace the goal in the first game. But the opponent, who spent most of the game on defense, successfully prevented all attacks. This situation lasted until the 84th minute. 6 minutes before the final whistle, Agil Mammadov sent Zaur Tagizadeh 's pass from the right wing to the goal and equalized the score according to the results of two games. The winner was determined by post-match penalties until the score changed in extra time. Unlike the young players of "Bakili", who could not get rid of the psychological burden of the hard game , the members of our team made all the shots and reached the final.        

The decisive match with "Shamkir" was also tense. First of all, both sides tried not to make a mistake, they thought a lot about the inviolability of the door. The goalkeepers played without mistakes when the sides created several scoring chances. No goals were scored in regulation time and hopes were extended for another 30 minutes. In the last minute of the first half of extra time, our team won the right to take a penalty kick. After Mahmud Gurbanov 's long- range shot, the ball hit the defenders and fell in front of Samir Abasov, who joined the attack, and he did not miss the chance - 1: 0. In the second extra period, "Shamkir" worked hard, but could not prevent "Neftchi " to make a "golden double" for the second time in its history .    

Thus, the flagship put an end to the longing for the championship for 7 years, as well as the longing for the cup for 5 years, and 9 years later he won the "golden double".
