There were many well-known footballers in Neftchi. However, it is rare that the duo of brothers, as well as both of them, have the same popularity among the fans. The Javadov brothers were one of such rare brotherly duets of Neftchi.

In general, the Javadovs can be considered a family of athletes. Although his father Javad was a laborer, he showed great interest in sports. This was not without reason. Javad, who wanted to be a footballer in his youth, did not achieve his dream. However, he was able to instill in his children a love for football and sports in general. 8 of his 9 children were active in sports. Two of them are Fuzuli and Iskander Javadov, who later became famous in Azerbaijani football.

Fuzuli took his first steps in football late. At the age of 12, Bakikhanov began to master the secrets of football under the leadership of Shirali Shiraliyev at the settlement stadium. As the years went by, he realized the difficulty of joining Neftchi because he started playing football late, and left his homeland to continue his career in the Rostov region. Fuzuli's two older brothers roasted the ball there. They also gained a good reputation in the province. Thanks to the patronage of his brothers, Fizuli can quickly adapt to local conditions.

The ability of the player to play in the regional championship spread, and he was soon invited to the main team of the city, OIK. Thus, Fuzuli's dream of becoming a footballer comes true. He even managed to make his debut in the OIK team in 1972. That same year, Neftchi left the strong group. They are starting to strengthen the staff so that Neftchi can return soon. Therefore, the pupils of the Azerbaijani football school playing outside are invited to the Republic. Fuzuli is among those invited. In his first season at Neftchi, he became one of the key figures of the team and became the leader of the team for three consecutive seasons. Playing as both a striker and a midfielder, Fuzuli is unable to reveal the true quality of the bombing. However, his speed and good start made it a good opportunity. Even after Neftchi's return to the top flight, he continues to show his leadership qualities. However, the arrival of Ahmad Alasgarov as head coach in 1979 put an end to his performances for Neftchi. As a result of Alasgarov's reconstruction of Neftchi, many players were expelled from the team. To insure himself, the head coach called Fuzuli and said: "Only one of the Javadovs should remain in the team." Fuzuli leaves Neftchi in order not to hinder his brother's football career. However, he left the Republic again to play football. Thus, Fuzuli, who started his football career abroad, was forced to finish it abroad.

Unlike Fuzuli, Iskander started playing football as a child. The reason for this was the connection of his three older brothers with this sport. Iskander began to learn the intricacies of football in a group led by Eduard Jabrailov. Then he is engaged in this sport at the boarding school No. 6. He will soon be hired as a substitute for Neftchi. However, he was expelled from the team after the first training camp. In this case, Iskander moved to Sumgayit's "Khazar" club, which played in the 9th zone of the 2nd league of the USSR championship. After the unsuccessful season, the team broke up, so he turned to "Avtomobilchi" (Baku). In 1976, Javadov was again invited to the reserve team of "Neftchi" and soon became the captain of the team.

Iskander's debut in the main squad dates back to 1977. Seeing Javadov's prospects, head coach Gennady Bondarenko released him at the end of the away match against Shakhtar. It was also the first time that the Javadov brothers were on the field at the same time.

Iskander has been in the team for 4 consecutive successful seasons since 1978. Even the change of the head coach of "Neftchi" did not affect his game. He is already receiving offers from other teams, and Javadov is moving to Dynamo Moscow. He also plays for Dynamo in the UEFA Cup against Polish club Schlensk. Despite the prospect of joining the USSR national team, his performances in Moscow did not last long. During a meeting with the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan Kamran Bagirov in Moscow, the player was offered to return to his native club at the request of many fans of the republic. Although the player wants to return, Dynamo does not let him go. Thus, this is possible due to the intervention of Heydar Aliyev, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

After returning to Neftchi, Iskander Javadov became a real leader again. As a captain, Javadov managed to follow his teammates and became the record holder of "Neftchi", playing 77 consecutive games in the USSR championship without substitutions.
In the 80s of the last century, the "trio" of Iskander Javadov-Mashallah Ahmadov-Igor Ponomaryov voted not only for our republic, but also for the whole Union. It was this magnificent "trio" that was able to decide the fate of any game. Javadov was at the tip of this "trinity".

Iskander jumped in one of the matches of the USSR championship and passed the ball over his head with scissors. However, the head of the jury in the competition for the "best goal of the season" Nikita Simonyan, for reasons other than football, does not even include this ball in the list of the best goals of the tour.

As soon as Neftchi dropped out of the Strong Group, Iskander also said goodbye to football. Thanks to 53 goals scored in the strongest group of the USSR championship, he is included in the list of 100 best scorers of the USSR.

After finishing his football career, Javadov graduated from the law faculty of AUL (now BSU) and began to work in another field. As a result, he is out of football for a while. But his love of football brings him back to this field.

Iskander Javadov, a member of the AFFA Executive Committee, was awarded the Order of Glory in 2006.
