He was born on May 4, 1980 in Baku. Elshan Mammadov started playing football at the age of 10, then played in "Dinamo", "Neftgaz", "Khazar University", "Inter", "Qarabağ", "Simurg", "Standard", "MTK Araz", "Mughan", "AZAL" and our national team during his professional career.

He worked as a coach at the "Sporting Baku" football academy for 4 years.

He has "B" category coaching license of UEFA.
