
A New Head Coach For Neftchi PFC
At today's online meeting of the Supervisory Board of PFC "Neftchi", the appointment of the head coach of the main team was discussed and it was decided to appoint Laurentiu Reghecampf to this position. A two-year contract has been signed with the Romanian specialist.
Reghecampf was born on September 19, 1975 in Targovishte, Romania. He finished his football career in 2009 and started coaching in the same year. He coached Romania's Snagov (2009-2010, 2011), Craiova (2010, 2011), Gloria (2010), Concordia (2011-2012), Steaua (2012-2014, 2015-2017), Universitatea Craiova (2021-2022), Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal (2014-2015), Al Ahly (2021), Bulgaria's Litex (2015), UAE's Al Wahda (2017-2018) and Al Wasl (2019-2020).
As head coach, he won the Romanian Championship (2013, 2014), the Super Cup (2013) and the League Cup (2016) with Steaua. In the 2012/2013 season, he managed to advance to the 1/8 final stage of the UEFA Europa League. Reghecampf’s team lost to the same season UEL champions - Chelsea in the 1/8 finals after eliminated Ajax in the 1/16 finals. The 46-year-old specialist also led Steaua to the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, reached the final of the Asian Champions League with Al Hilal in 2014, and finished as runner-up in the Prince's Cup of Saudi Arabia in 2015. He won the UAE Super Cup (2017, 2018) and the League Cup (2018), and became runner-up in the UAE Championship (2018) with Al Wahda.
In 2013, Laurentiu Reghecampf was awarded Romania's head coach of the year, per a survey done by the Sporturilor newspaper.
